Jabil Inc. Expands Presence with New Factory in Gujarat
Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL), a global leader in engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions, has announced its plans to establish a second factory in Gujarat, India. With an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, this expansion marks a significant step in strengthening Jabil’s footprint in the country’s growing semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.

A Strategic Investment in Gujarat’s High-Tech Manufacturing
The announcement was made at the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit in Gandhinagar, where Jabil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government. This new facility aligns with Jabil’s long-term vision to support India’s expanding semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industry.
“We are proud to welcome Gujarat to Jabil’s global network of over 100 sites across 25 countries,” said Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President, Global Business Units at Jabil. “This strategic expansion underscores our ability to implement solutions that best serve our customers in an evolving market.”
Boosting Semiconductor and Photonics Capabilities
As part of this expansion, Jabil will explore the establishment of a post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics facility, featuring advanced co-packaged optics capabilities. The company has been a key player in the photonics industry for over a decade, specializing in designing and developing amplifiers, transceivers, laser packages, and optical networking products. The facility is expected to accelerate innovation and domestic production in the semiconductor sector, further strengthening India’s role in the global supply chain.
Economic Growth and Job Creation in Gujarat
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel welcomed Jabil’s investment, stating,
“Jabil’s presence will create jobs for the next generation while enhancing our semiconductor industry’s growth and competitiveness.”
This move aligns with Gujarat’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a hub for high-tech manufacturing. Over the years, the state has attracted several major global investments in electronics, semiconductor fabrication, and allied industries, reinforcing its reputation as a critical player in India’s technology landscape.
Diverse Industry Applications
Beyond semiconductor and photonics, Jabil serves a broad range of industries, including automotive, healthcare, telecommunications, data centers, and warehouse automation. The company’s global expertise in manufacturing and supply chain solutions enables it to provide innovative products and services tailored to modern industrial demands.
Jabil’s new facility is expected to fast-track the production of cutting-edge photonics solutions, facilitating advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), telecommunications, and data communications. The company’s ability to prototype and manufacture at scale will help accelerate time-to-market for new technologies.
Strengthening India’s Role in the Global Supply Chain
As India continues to emerge as a major player in the semiconductor industry, investments from global firms like Jabil underscore the country’s potential as a reliable and competitive manufacturing hub. The new factory in Gujarat is set to contribute to the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, fostering self-reliance in high-tech manufacturing.
With this expansion, Jabil not only strengthens its presence in India but also reinforces its commitment to driving innovation, economic growth, and technological advancements in the country’s electronics and semiconductor sectors.
